We have had the breach technology deployed on other servers also under attack during the challenge, hence the 'Total Attacks on All Protected Servers' listed below. These statistics DO NOT include pings.

In Partnership with Secure Web Apps this is the challenge history.
Four years ago, we began testing a product called Fortress(tm) to protect Linux servers. For two years, our product was tested against hackers. So, we provided a target server with Fortress(tm) for hacking. During the two years, we researched all attacks on Earth that we were privy to, studying the TTP (Tactics, Techniques and Procedures) of the hackers. Although Fortress(tm) was never breached, we made improvements.
Then two years ago, we began a global challenge to the world to hack Fortress(tm) because we did not want to unleash just another 'resiliency enhancement' product. The global challenge has been very successful with over 180 countries participating and over 5 million attacks (not counting pings). Again, we studied the attacks and improved our product, although it was never breached.
A year ago this last weekend we released the admin password to the target server to all hackers. During this year there have been many attempts but no successes, even using the password. No one has breached even the 1st level of defenses and there are many levels.
We have decided to finally release Fortress(tm) and it is now available commercially.
We would be remiss to not thank all those who have helped make Fortress(tm) what it is today. Thanks to all the hackers and hacker groups. Thanks to the DefCon(R) hackers who tried our $10K challenge there. Thanks to the corporate and military teams who took our global challenge to hack our Fortress(tm) protected server! Thanks to the 184 countries who participated.
And last a special thanks to Russia for its persistence in attacking through the years and a very special thanks to China. Those repeated attacks you guys did from 66 provinces simultaneously were extra special because we know they took a lot of extra work on your part.
Again thanks to all who have participated in our ongoing challenge! Please continue...
